Some ambitious students got up early today to catch the 8 o´clock bus heading to Alella.
They did their site specific art installations in the middle of the town, getting curious looks :)

Later we had a meeting at the gallery space to arrange the artpieces. After that everybody was running of being busy to finish things before the grand opening this friday!

For this drawing class we went to the Barcelona Zoo! Not that easy to catch a draft from fast moving animals. Guess that´s why we hang out at the elephants and turtle section ;)

In the graffiti workshop Metáfora students sketchbooked their wall design first, then we went to the backyard of the school and we went crazy with cans and colours. Check out the result!

At the end of each term Metáfora opens doors to the public. Every student presents their artworks produced during fall semester. As well public could take a look into private studios of all students. Thanks everybody for this great exhibition night! Astonished visitors, plenty of drinks, heaters in the backyard, good music- we loved it! Sad to say that this semester has closed its doors for xmas. But surely we are back next year- full of fresh and inspiring energy! Merry Christmas!

Ekatherina Savchenko, who is a Russian Artist doing paintings, photos, sculpture, performance, video and mixed media. Cai Guo-Qiang coming from China explored gunpowder in his drawings, eventually leading to working with explosives on a massive scale.

Metáfora Students have had their first exciting class in Art Therapy! Now we know what "Art Thera.....what??? actually means ;) We even got to produce our first Art Therapy thing on our own...well, we really felt like 5 year olds and it felt really good! Just playing around with different material, glue, feathers, paint... we loved it!

Yesterday, on 9th of September 2010 was the grand opening of Frank´s latest exhibition in Galeria Contrast, Consell de Cent 281, Barcelona, titled "How does your Garden Grow?"
Metáfora students and tutors have had a great night out (and actually in, that means when you got a chance to get inside the gallery, because the place was just full to bursting ;)). Another set of adorable welding pieces and sculptures, don´t miss your chance to have a look at them! The show will be up until the 16th of October 2010.

Dear Ex – students from Metàfora

This year Metàfora celebrates its 10th year of existence (some would say survival?) and we would like to mark it with a series of events. The first of these takes place on the days between the 28th of May and 4th of June, days which coincide with the end-of-year show of the International Workshop (“Ten-Diez-Deu”) and our Open Doors at Metàfora.

Poster
We would like to propose to all the ex–students of the International Workshop to add an extra dimension to the show this year:
Parallel to the “Ten-Diez-Deu”-show we would like to arrange an exhibition of “posters” produced by the ex–students from over the last 10 years.
The posters will also be shown on an especially designed page of Metàfora’s web page.

Content
We were thinking that these posters should be some kind of résumé of your “Metàfora-experience”, a way for each one of you to explain in words and images the ways in which you have been marked by your stay with us. We would also like to know where you were before and what you are doing now.

Format and Deadline
The format should be A3 (one, max. two - I know this is not a lot of space) and the poster should be sent to us in PDF format or any other easily readable format. We would need the posters by the 25th of May.

We send thanks on beforehand to those of you, who would like to participate!
